Why do Some Exams Retire and Is Networking Essentials MCSE?

I'm a bit confused. There are so many exams out there and MCSE texts. What happened to 70-058? And where is networking in the MCSE requirements? Thanks.

    Exams retire because they relate directly to a particular OS or product version. Network Essentials was part of MCSE NT 4.0, some of the information from that exam is now part of the 70-216 exam, although there are less network basics compared to the net essentials exam which is very much like Network+.
