Missing MSVCR70.DLL

On my work PC running windows XP, I am receiving an error prompt:
"VPTray.exe-Unable To Locate Component / This application has failed to start because MSVCR70.DLL was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
I understand the VPTray is the Icon for my anti-virus program that resides in the system tray. Evertime time I click OK on the error dialog box, the prompt keeps coming back.
Where should I go to verify this DLL is missing, and also more importantly where to reinstall the dll.
Thanks

telecomops101 Member Posts: 128No I didn't try to re-install my av program. What I did was a search for the missing DLL and I found 3 occurences, two for Microsoft Office and one for Microsoft.NET / Framework. I can't re-install the av program myself, because this is my work PC and I need to open a ticket to have the work done. It seems the problem is with my Symmantic AV.."Every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it. Autograph your work with excellence."

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,089 AdminDid you recently uninstall a program prior to this problem occurring? It's possible that an installation program mistakenly has this file marked for removal instead of leaving it on the computer as it should. The file is easy enough to replace by downloading and installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86), but you want to be mindful of any uninstaller that removes it.
