HP OmniBook XE3 Laptop Question

I have a a question about a 6 year old HP OmniBook XE3 laptop. Prior to my hard drive crashing everytime while I was online I would constantly get the search bar to pop up on the left pane of my monitors screen. It happened when I was just typing. There were times it didn't happen, but for the most part it seemed no particular key would activate the search box. I would have to keep closing it out. I also was getting a consistant beep, which was like when a key was stuck.

When my hard drive crashed i replaced the unit and reloaded the OS. I thought this would fix even my above issues, but they are still happening. It seems to be a hardware problen on my laptop.

Any suggestion of where and what to look for????
