Remote access logging

Hi
As the study for 70291 progressed into the unknown world of remote access to me, I have decided to try deploy IAS with remote access and now I am having trouble getting IAS to log requests to SQL.
I am unsure if IAS requires SQL 2000 or MSDE however, I am running SQL 2005 on a another computer, the "Test Connection" succeeds (when set to NT Authentication but fails with any other user account even when a login is created in SQL 2005) however IAS refused to log to SQL.
Remote access clients work all as expected.
IAS returns event ID 4, Source: IAS which basically is accounting request for user ... discarded because unable to write to log (or something along those lines)
Just wanting to see if there are any suggestions on making this work.
Thanks
Jason
