I was just curios to hear from those of you who have taken both exams.
How much from the XP exam material did you encounter on the 290 exam?

There's about a 60% overlap between the 270 and 290 exam. Best thing to do is take both of them as close together as possible so that the overlapping information is fresh on your mind.

Some of the topics in 290 include:

    Terminal Services\Remote Desktop
    Shadow Copies
    Server Roles
Security Templates and Security Configuration Wizard

I'm sure there is more, but these are a view topics I can remember

I actually did the 290 first because I use XP all the time and wanted to start something new. I'd say the 60% overlap is a good estimate. A lot of the sharing, permissions, performance monitoring, event viewing, backup, general usage, printing, etc. is going to be very similar. It would be most advantageous for you to to work on one immediately after passing the other. 270 really gets in depth with the mass installation procedures, which was the most foreign part of that exam to me.

    BTW, welcome to the forum.

Thank you for the answers. And thank you for the warm "welcome". I will do my best to contribute to this forum!
I was expecting an overlap between 270 and 290. Wasn't quite sure if I should take 290 soon after 270, even though it sure feels like I should.
I am about to take 270 in two days.
