Flash Player
Got a few computer I'm having an issue with. All XP SP2 and the latest updates. They had Flash version 6 installed and when going to sites with Flash (most notably usairways.com) IE would crash. It's IE 7. I got to Adobe's website and try to update to version 9 and I get blocked. It says can't verify the publisher. I change the Internet Security settings to download unsigned Active X controls and I get the install dialog box...I click install and nothing happens.
The machines are basically the same. Same software, updates, etc. I can disable flash 6 and IE won't crash, but then you dont see the flash objects. Not a big deal, however.
I got Flash 6 uninstalled from one of the machines and tried to download 9, still no go. I tried running as admin, still nothing. I don't know what else to try.
You experts have any suggestions for a young IT guy?

blackmage439 Member Posts: 163I've had trouble installing an older version of Flash player (around version 8 or so), so I know what you're going through...
On my current machine, I have the same setup that you do (XP SP2, IE 7), and I'm pretty sure that I have version 9 installed just fine. So, I don't think it has something to do with IE 7. Have you checked the FAQ on Adobe's and/or Microsoft's website? It may shed some light on the issue..."Facts are meaningless. They can be used to prove anything!"

I checked Adobe's website when I first had the problem (a couple ago), but didn't find anything. I haven't checked back since.
I also have a few XP SP2, IE7 machines with Flash 9 installed, no problem.geekie wrote:I had the same issue and used a P2P to download the install file.
If only I had a P2P...Working on Linux+ -
JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,089 AdminI don't know if this will work, but in your situation I think that I'd trying rolling back to IE6 by uninstalling IE7, upgrade to Flash 9 online, verify that Flash 9 is working, and then reinstall IE7 and run Windows updates. Let us know if you try this and what happens.
