Windows Updates

I have successfully installed WSUS 3 and happy with the new look but only last Tuesday i approved about 5 updates using SUS and now we have switched to WSUS i have 687 updates?? Can anyon explain to me why this is, is it that SUS was`nt working properly? Also when i have approved these updates to a test group, how do i approve them again for the rest of the network? And can one machine become a member of various groups, as i cant seem to change the membership on a pc that is already in a group!
