Contracts signed with company

Hi

For contract employees, some companies are asking to sign a bond of 1 year.

I want people's experience as to how strict are these agreements. Can one break and do away with them if they get a better job offer?

I know a lawyer will be competent to read the agreement and give best advice. But whats the general trend with people who are contracting. Do they shift contracts if a better offer comes along.
