when will the ccna 640-801 exams change?
gundja
hi
i have decided to start preparing for the ccna 640-801 exams as from today.i have already set up a plan to study at least 2 hrs daily 7 days a week and hope by december 2007 i can take the exam.
but suddenly cisco announces on their website about a new curriculum ,so will the current ccna exam change soon ?
does anyone heard about an updated cisco exam?
what would u recommend me to do now ?to wait for the new exam format or continue my preparation for the current 640-801 exam format?
thanks

Just keep studying. It's not like the stuff that's on the exam is going to magically go away now that they're changing it. Some of the stuff that's on the current CCNA has been on every version prior, including routing protocols, basic lan architecture, and IOS. They may drop ISDN completely and pick up something like wireless, but lets face it, you're still going to get 95% of the same material, from routing/switching, to routing protocols, subnetting, and everything else.
Study like you're taking the 801 and if they change it before you do, learn what's new and proceed.

CCNA won't change much next time around...just keep studying like Paul said.
I took the CCNA about 7 years ago and not much changed over 7 years so you will be ok.

I hope they drop ISDN and proceed with wireless! I just took a wireless class and ISDN has many terms and concepts which seem alienated from all the other content.

With the changes to almost every other Cisco certification, Cisco is due to update the CCNA soon (it's been about 3 years since the last major update when they went from the 640-607 to the 640-801 exam). Usually they will introduce some new topics to the CCNA and retire some old ones. Since Cisco updated the CCNP with topics like QoS, VoIP, Wireless, and Security I wouldn't be surprised to see them on the CCNA exam in the next year. I would say study the core topics and if they add anything new just adapt to it, not too much anyone can do about it.
