2620 Hardware Problem

in CCNA & CCENT
Guys,
I'm looking to buy a 2620 for sale. It has a possible issue with overheating. The only info i have on it is that it works for about 15 minutes and then you lose connection to the cosole session. Any ideas of what this might be. I'm trying to find out if at least the device stays powered on.

Sounds like a Console timout timer. Do you have access to the router? If not, ask if the person can provide you with a show version and a show run. But what do you mean by lose connection? Does it shut down or boot you out of user mode? There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1! -

You will need a show run output to find out if there is a console timout set. There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1! -

Console timers should only affect getting kicked out of a console session if you're idling. Other than kicking the console connection, does the router exhibit any loss of service or access?CCNP | CCIP | CCDP | CCNA, CCDA

There is an "absolute-timeout" command which will kill the exec session after a set amount of time. The only easy day was yesterday! -

Thanks Paul. I ended up losing the Bid on ebay. It got too high and wasn't worth the aggravation especially if something that is sold as AS-IS
