They will give you a test to take depending on your field. When it comes to negotiating salaries don't back down! Assuming they want you to work for company A and company A is willing to pay you $25/hr. Robert half will tell you they will be offering you 18/hr so they can pocket the rest!. When they ask for a salary requirement, Ask for the highest reasonable salary possible and then negotiate down or up.

Just be smart so they don't take advantage over you!

This is how temp agencies make their money; they are not taking advantage of the temp workers by doing so. Agencies will typically charge the business you work for a further 20-25% of your base pay. Businesses know they will pay more to hire people through a temp agency, but they typically don't know what the employee is actually earning. The time to negotiate for more money is when the business hires you as a permanent worker and not when you are being hired by the temp agency itself.

Short piece of advice from monster:

When an employment agency tells you how much a job will pay, it may not be carved in stone. Try negotiating. Aim for 75 percent of the bill rate -- the amount the employer is willing to pay for an employee, including the employment agency's fee. The agency may try to get you to work for 50 to 60 percent of the bill rate, pocketing the difference. But you often can do better -- if you know what the bill rate is. Ask, and if the agency won't tell you, try the employer's human resources department.
All things are possible, only believe.

An agency will either refuse to tell you the billing rate or simply lie as to what it is. It is like asking a car salesman what the dealership really paid for a car--you'll just be given a value that makes it seems as if the dealer's margin of profit on the car is very small. The business employing you through the temp agency won't divulge the billing rate either because that information is proprietary to the business itself. It's like trying to beat a casino at its own game.

There are other ways to find out. Does the term "social engineering" come to mind? icon_wink.gif
