Differences in the 821 and 801 tests

I was curious if anyone has taken both the 821 and the 801 test? I haven't had much success with the 821 (twice taken now), and I was seriously thinking of now just taking the 801 since, if I do manage to pass the 821, there's no guarantee that it won't take me several time to also pass the ICND. Conversely, I might as well skip the INTRO and just focus on the 801, since when I pass it I'll have my CCNA verses having to take and possibly retake two separate tests. It would stand to reason that with a test which covers so much more material (the 801), it couldn't possibly go into the depth with 50-odd questions that each individual test could. For those who've taken both, does this seem to be the case?
