As you can see I have had many different roles in IT. I left my last job in Sept of 06 and took another job as a call center/field tech (basically help desk) working with Rimage products. I left my previous job because it was a small company and there was no room to grow. I searched for IT support, network admin/assistant jobs with no success. I had allot of second inter views and they all decided to go with someone that had more expirence. I took the job at Rimage because it was a bigger company with room for growth. I also let them know upfront that my goal is to land a network admin position or a position within the internal IT support department. I have been at this job for almost a year. Some of the calls have me dealing with complex network setups, working with complex applications etc.. and are cool to work with. However I really do not like being on the phone all day, all the time even though it is all technical. When I was brought on board the company was at the end of implementing SAP R/3. I was fortunate to be trained on it and given the task of training the other call center techs on it. I have taken a strong interest in SAP/Information systems and would like to land a position that would have me working with SAP and networking/information systems management. One thing I noticed was talk of Implementing MySAP CRM in the company within the near future. I have been assertive and volunteered to study SAP CRM on my own and expressed that I want to help out with implementing it. The higher ups have been very responsive to my request. My direct boss purchased a MySAP CRM book for me to study, his boss over him has told me to keep studying and that they would put me on the CRM implementation team. I also went and expressed my interest in being a part of that team to the lady that headed up the SAP R/3 implementation team. She told me when they begin the project I would be on the team and to keep studying it. I have since bought another SAP book after reading the first book. I have a hard time in the day to day job I have at the company. It is not were I want to be and in some ways I have advanced since my last job and in other ways it seems as if I am moving backwards because of the type of position. The question I have is do I stay in the position and just wait and see if they come through and get me involved in other areas or do I start looking for job s elsewhere that I would rather have? The second question is with my education and background am I qualified for a networking position? If not what can I do to start heading in that direction?
