Novell Authentication Past and present question ?
Team,
I am reading in my Syngress Network Plus book that Novell uses the Novell Modular Authentication Service ( NMAS ) to provide authentication to the NetWare eDirectory and to the Novell NDS. But (NMAS) is only available for Novell Netware 6.5 and later.
Am I correct in saying that Novell Netware 3x used Bindery services for authentication. This was a stand-alone database system where all user access and security data resided individually on each server. When an infrastructure contained more than one server, users had to log-in to each of them individually, and each server had to be configured with the list of all allowed users. I believe I am right on this ?
In addition, Novell Netware 4.x Novell replaced Bindery services with Novel Directory Services for Authentication. and used this authentication set until 6.5 ?
I believe I am right on all this info. My book kind of ruins together on Novell and Linux/Unix stuff and I want to make sure I have this correct?
