Question about Voice over IP

If I am able to provide communication between two Ip phones via call manager and a switch, How do I let these phones communicate with the outside world?

You would need some type of gateway. You could use a VWIC with FXO interfaces to connect to a standard analog line, or some type of trunk configuration if you needed more than 1-2 lines.

Yeah you would need a Gateway, and set up some dial peers at it, like:
dial peer voice 1 pots
destination pattern 9T
port x/y:z
