IP Subnet Zero and ? when testing on sims

in CCNA & CCENT
When asked how many hosts/subnets by looking at an IP will they specify that ip subnet zero is enabled? Or should I assume by default since its been available from IOS 11.x and above its enabled by default
Also, I read somewhere ( cant remember the source) that when in a sim when taking the test you can type in ? if cant remember a command and not get docked for points...
