Hi there!
I am bit confused about TFTP server
I know that
TFTP is a client / server application and it is based on UDP which uses port 69. I know there are two hosts one is called client ( who make requests) and other is called server ( who serves ). Let's say my PC is client so where is my TFTP Server located ?. How do i get its IP address? . What are free softwares do which say download free TFTP Server?.
Your help is much appreciated

iproute Member Posts: 269I (and many others) use SolarWinds TFTP. It's free here: http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=solarwindstftp
Your TFTP server is on the system you happen to be running the software on. It will use the IP address of that system.CCNP Progress

Netstudent Member Posts: 1,693 ■■■□□□□□□□the client would be a router or another machine on your network that would pull files from the tftp server. All networks are peer-to-peer which means that nodes can be servers and clients at the same time. There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1!

It means one node can not be a client and server at the same time. so if i down load TFTP SERVER SOFTWARE i m basically making it server for my other nodes in my networks. Is that correct ? -

I don't understand why you say a node can't be a server and a client. Take for example a DNS server. When you query a DNS server you are the client and the DNS server is the server. If that DNS server does not have a record that you need, it will pass on the query to another DNS server. Then the first DNS server becomes a client to the second. Thats just one example.
And yes it is pretty obvious, when you Download a service, that computer becomes a server. There is no place like 127.0.0.1 BUT 209.62.5.3 is my 127.0.0.1 away from 127.0.0.1!
