What type of certification would be useful to get into a data center environment?
Is that along the lines of CCNA, Server+, or Security+, or even MCSE ?

I read about them in a newsletter "IEEE Students or something like that " last year
I took the beta exam, and failed, and never heard about them again.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,093 AdminWell, it depends on what's in the data center where you will be working. A Microsoft and Cisco shop? Then the MCSA/MCSE and CCNA/NP/SP are what you need. UNIX/Linux? The Linux+ and LPI are good. IBM or Sun? They have their certifications too. And the popular security certs are always good to have and know.
The common advice is to look for job postings on the major job boards that describe the type of job/environment you want to work in and see what certs, experience, and education are "nice to have" and "must have." -

I've worked in several, and throughout all of them certifications were extremely, extremely rare. Albeit they were typically Unix environments.
