3640 or 2801

dodgeyrogdodgeyrog Member Posts: 3 ■□□□□□□□□□
I have the option of purchasing a 3640 router or a 2801.

I know the 2801 is a lot newer but which is best for my Lab. Will the 3640 give me more functionality i.e as Frame Relay switch as I already have a 4 port Serial WIC.

Thanks

Roger

If we're spending your money, the 2801. :D

If we were spending my money, I'd get 2 3640s (and some NMs) instead.

From a standpoint, 2801 is really nice for a killer price icon_confused.gif

    I use 3x 3640's and 7x 2621XM's in my ccie lab

    Works great.

Of course if you were to win the lottery or somthing but 7x 2811's and 3 2821's would be awesome icon_lol.gif

But if you were willing to spend enough to get a 2801, then you should buy 2 2611XM's or 2621XM's 128/32
There is no place like 127.0.0.1

Thanks guys, I think going for more 3640's is the better option I watched internetworkexperts Vseminar on CCIE prep and they say that the 3640 will do 99% of what you want from a router for your lab.
