I normally use a windows OS and putty refers to the USB port I use as 'com 4'
and Linux uses this as the default '/dev/ttyS0' and doesn't recognise 'com4'
anyone know what I need to type?
cheers guys

I'd watch the startup to see if it installed the driver for it, and if not go search for it..
A google for USB Serial driver brings up the following linux drivers.

Plazma Member Posts: 503this may not work in linux but you can try this
cat /etc/ttys
generally /etc/ttys1,2or3 will be your serial device BUT if your using that usb-serial adapter, check driver support for it, as its going to have to 'appear' as just another serial device to the OS and the driver will take care of the usb - rs-232 signalling/mappingsCCIE - COMPLETED!
