An interesting Computer World article on a Symantec Report:
http://www.computerworld.com/action/article.do?command=viewArticleBasic&articleId=9036819
The report talks about the going rates for stolen bank accounts (up to $400), email passwords ($1 to $350 each) and that criminals are researching, developing and marketing nefarious software for other criminals.
On a positive note, it estimates that penny-stock spam is down about 30%.
Now is a great time to get those security certs, and more importantly, understand the threats we are facing.

All things are possible, only believe.

Schluep Member Posts: 346Thanks for posting. One of the things that caught my eye is that they mentioned most attacked are performed through obtaining some initial contact information and then using a phishing attack specific to the user. The only thing to prevent against this is user awareness.
Here is another Computer World article from around the same time that I found interesting and closely related:

An employee sent over 6,000 company e-mails to a gmail account which was much more easily compromised by an attacker than his corporate account. These e-mails were posted all over the internet. This time it wasn't the usual personal information the attacker was after, but furthering the ability for copyright infringement to take place with limited difficulty.
