640-801 Tomorrow

Hello Everyone,

I have finally decided... Well my employer finally decided that I should be writing the 640-801 exam tomorrow at 12:15pm... I feel very confident that I will pass this exam as I've been working indirectly with cisco products for the past year and have been all over Cisco Press and Sybex... I'm at the point now where I simply open any of the books and read the subject line and basically recite all the information to myself instead of reading it and am throughly bored when I do actually read a chapter.

As I have never taken a cisco exam before I am semi-concerned with the sims that will be on the exam the only question I have concerning the sim is whether or not the help features will work? I can configure a Cisco Router fairly well due to the nature of what I do at work, but even when I am sitting at the console I find myself using the help features as well as google to ensure that I am doing things correctly as I am fairly certain that if I mis-configured something and brought the network down I would be escorted out of the building by security

.

So, If anyone knows whether or not the help features do function could you kindly let me know... I do not mind putting off the purchase of Halo for one more day configure to network after network.

yes you will be able to use the ? mark remember cisco designed the sim to act like the real thing....good luck to you and let us know how it goes

You should be fine based off of what you said. It got to that point with me as well, where it hurt to read becasue I knew the information inside and out.

As for the sims, don't fret over them. From what I experienced, they weren't bad at all, and you said you can configure a cisco router fairly well. That's all a sim is....configuring a router and troubleshooting/gathering information from show commands.

The only advice I can give is don't overcram tonight....you either know it or you don't, and it sounds like you do.

And good idea on putting halo off a day or so...I've seen too many people overly tired today because of it, and that is exactly what you DON'T need to pass the exam.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys, Pretty much all I was worried about were the SIM questions, I've been all over this forum and it seems that most people don't have any problems with the SIMS except for the amount of time they seem to take.

I'm fairly certain that tomorrow will go well, but I am of course a bit nervous about it... especially since I won't get reimbursed from my employer if I fail.... lol thank the American Dollar for being at par with the Canadian dollar otherwise the $150 US might be a bit steep

good luck man. I have mine tomorrow too. I've read the Sybex 5th Edition, taken a class, and did some flash cards, 2 tests, and read everything I can to pass. I also used a sim(boson) and I have a home lab. Goodluck and wish me luck too

Hi All,

This morning I went to the local testing center and I arrived on time all prepared to pump out a perfect score... Testing people told me that I had not registered for the exam even though my visa card showed that I had indeed paid the money.

Anyways after about 15 minutes on the phone with some call center joker nothing got resolved so being that it was a company credit card I simply paid again

I walked out of the testing center with 35 minutes to spare and a massive headache but achieved a score of 937

.... CCNA is now all done and out of the way and I am extremely happy aobut it, unfortunately I will not be doing anymore Cisco Certs for a little while as I now have to get my CCSE+.

Thanks guys for all the help and support with getting this cert, this forum was a great help to me and rest assured I will be using this forum when I attempt CCDA...

congrats man, I wish I could say the same. I got an 809!! I have revised my study plan and now I have my home lab up and running in edition to a Boson simulator. I also am reading the Cisco press books and the Exam Cram CCNA book. I already read the Sybex 5th EDITION by Todd Lammle. The Cisco CCNA book seems a lot more descriptive than the Sybex.

I rescheduled for Monday, October 8th. STP was tripping me up as well as some VLAN ID questions so I'm reviewing extensively on those topics.

I'll post my breakdown later.

Hang in there man! You should be good to go next time. Also, you would be surprised how the actual physical contact with the equipment versus just a simulator helps in understanding and developing a "comfort" level with the concepts.
