analogies for the computer layman

Anyone got any good ones? Working face to face with customers who dont know much about computers can be a bit of a challenge. I dont mind it though...I certainly dont think everyone should be expected to be tech geniuses. If that was the case, none of us would have jobs icon_wink.gif

    I seem to be explaining computer related sujects to my other half in terms of cars at the moment, which is odd since i know less about them than i do computers icon_lol.gif
    (Either that or in terms of human organs/functions)

    With computers, you can use body parts. (motherboard as the nervous system, CPU as brain, RAM as temporary memory, Hard drives as permanent memory, etc)

    With networks, it's easy to use pipes and roads.
