a friend has got a new computer which is running Windows XP home edition, but there is now a problem whenever they are on the internet the entire computer just does a restart without any warning, i have had a look and cant find anything
hopefully someone can help me out here

Look in the control panel under "System" on the "Advanced" tab look at the settings for Startup and Recovery. Make sure "Automatically Restart" is unchecked. This way you can get a BSOD and a error message to lead you to the problem. If I was guessting I would say it's an IRQ conflict.
If it's already unchecked and it's still restarting, look for bad ram, weak power supply, ect.

you can also use F8 to go into safe mode with networking enabled, start ie and see if it still restarts
