in CCNA & CCENT
I'm not having much success in finding CCNA-related work in my city. Any kind of network-related job would at least get me experience, even if it didn't pay much. As I was telling my wife, the problem is that the big companies that pay decently don't advertise usually in the newspapers; instead, they advertise through their website. But a lot of these companies which use CCNAs are obscure (at least to me), so how would I know who to look for in a search? So I thought someone might know a website which lists postings by companies in this kind of situation; I already have something up at monster.com and careerbuilder.com, so I don't need those (and it seems the employers there want a list of qualifications and experience that runs off the page). If anyone has a good site, plz let me know.

impelse Member Posts: 1,237 ■■■■□□□□□□I put my resume in Dice and Monster and Craigslist, I applied to every job as possible that say intermediate exp (moderate) or lower that cover networking, no necessary that says Cisco only, after few days I begin to received phone calls.
I accepted a job that include desktop support, server and one pix firewall (I did not know anything about PIX, I bought the book and checked Cisco web site and now I am doing interesting configuration). I am not doing routing protocols and STP, etc, but a lot information that I learned with networking I applied and gave me more exp, now I am looking for another job more specific wit Cisco (I am checking very carefully and slowly).
There is not dream job that you will get it after you get CCNA and applied everyting that you learned, you need to go forward with other Cisco Certification, because to work only with Cisco normally they will require more exp than you have (you saw that in the ads jobs).
Keep looking for, I do not know you exp, but you will find something relate with networking.
Also, put your resume in this site and many persons can give you feed back about how to improve it, I did not put my resume here but I read what others said about how to improve the resume, I followed those recomendations and was excelent.
Also, the person than hired me told me that the choosed me because I knew a little about Cisco, but they knew that I did not have exp with cisco.
This is my two cents.

You should probably be looking for something more like help desk or feild tech to start out. Once you build up some experience on your resume then monster and dice will get you plenty hits. It is a harsh cycle "need experience to get experience" but its the reality of the IT field. Businesses want someone who knows what they are doing and have solid proof (work experience not just certifications) that they do. Good luck with your search. An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.
