loop back on catalyst switch

I see the commands exist on a catalyst switch to create a loop back adapter... But I get unrecognized command when I attempt to create one.

any ideas?

I'd expect it to work on a layer 3 switch, but not on a layer 2 switch.

If you can type the command in on a Layer 2 switch, but get the error -- blame it on an overworked tired programmer.
