Hi!
I took the 640-801 today and failed with an 847. 849 is passing.
The breakdown is this:
planning and designing - 100%
implementation and operation - 50%
Troubleshooting - 77%
Technology - 84%
Obvously 'implementation and operation' needs some work, but what exactly is it? I've looked on the Cisco site and it's pretty vague. Does anyone have any advise?
My experience and study methods:
mis degree
7 years in IT, the first 4 were in single site lan admin (with web/dns/ip), the last 4 was client server architecture R&D platform development. I have one year with Pix (access-lists and Nat).
mcse and cissp certs
I've been studying about 8 hours a day 6 days a week (my wife hates me) for a month. My simulator is okay, there are about 10 labs and it is with full ios functionality. I have 2 books as well. I get it. I feel like if I could take the test tomorrow, I'd pass...
I'm thinking about purchasing the Boson sims, would that help with 'implementation and operation'?
Thanks!

Plazma Member Posts: 503The best thing you can do is find labs and implement them, hence the name
simulators IMHO are not that great and your much better off getting some 2501's or some 2600 series routers and some 2950 switches to really understand whats going on
For example - if you are troubleshooting something, you can use the debug commands on real stuff where as on most simulators i have used, you cant due to the sheer volatility of the command.
Another thing that MIGHT help, type up commands in notepad/wordpad , just to give yourself some 'finger memory'CCIE - COMPLETED! -
Plazma Member Posts: 503oh I forgot to mention, with the price of the boson sims.. especially the one for the CCNP (Which has more than you need, but is great for the CCNA too) you can get real stuff + cables for it and literally 're-use' it or resell it.CCIE - COMPLETED!
