Well i've booked it for the 29 Oct. Kinda worried. If I wait until I believe I can do it, I may never book it, so taking a chance here.
I understand the OSI model, I know how to configure routers (PPP / HDLC / Frame Relay), I can configure routing protocols (RIP / EIGRP / IGRP / OSPF), I can subnet in a reasonable time, I can configure a switch in the management VLAN, and configure VLANs and dot1q trunking. I understand how access lists work and where to put standard and extended acls.
I need to brush up on my cable distances and ISDN.
Apart from that is there anything I'm missing??
I hate exams but this has to be confronted head-on.
Edit: I've tested myself on the cisco site and come out with scores of +80%. I tested myself last night on the Bright Spark website and go 83% I think with 75 questions.

Scores of 80-83% on practice tests might not be good enough
Work on your troubleshooting skills so that the simlets don't kill you
For instance, to figure out a switching scenario you want to know commands like
show spanning-tree - to learn the root bridge and root port
show vtp status - to look up domain name, operating mode, and the IP of the VTP server
show vlan - to find out port assignment and vlan details
show cdp neighbor detail - to learn about switches you can't access directly
show interfaces trunk - to find out which interfaces are trunking
show mac-address-table - to look up which ports a device is going through
Learn all the show commands that are considered CCNA level - otherwise the simlets will take a forever to finish and you may run out of time. Obviously you also need to know the config commands to fix the problems you find, but the show commands are what give you the solution you need to apply. -
mrj Member Posts: 85 ■■□□□□□□□□Good luck. I'm studying too, need to get my date set. You sound like me, all of the routing and switching done but when they pop in those 5 questions about simple stuff like maximum cable distance, etc, it was so long ago you read that that you forget.
The worst part about this is the breadth of content it covers. It's ridiculous, maybe it's just my terrible memory though. I'm going to start using flash cards far more.
Definitely makes me nervous to begin studying for the CCNP if that is anything like this.
The Transcender practice exams are great, the grill the hell out of you.
