I have one router_A connected to a switch_B
Router_A is routing the vlans on switch B.
Now I was trying to connect other routers to the switch_B's switch ports. These other routers would each be in their own vlan. They can call ping the Router_A's respective sub interface, but they can not ping each other.
I have their default gateways set to their respective subinterfaces on Router_A....
This only seems to work when I use work stations on the seperate non management VLans. Where they can all ping the other work stations on the other vlans. For some reason routers don't seem to work...
Should this be possible?

encrypt the encryption, never mind my brain hurts.

liven Member Posts: 918well I am going to confirm this unless some one can tell me other wise.
When I do the router on a stick model,
and then use other routers as nodes to connect to my switch (why because all my other machines are serving function on my real network and can't be interrupted) the devices can not ping each other.
But when I uses real computers as nodes connected to my switch, everything seems to be able to communicate....
Odd...encrypt the encryption, never mind my brain hurts. -
networker050184 Mod Posts: 11,962 ModThe routers do not know of the routes to the other subnets. If you do a show ip route you will most likely see that the router has no route to those subnets. If you run a dynamic routing protocol or use static routes you should be able to ping the other subnets. They only know about the directly connected subnets. An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made.

But once you do get the hang of this Cisco networking thing.... it's just as easy to forget that dumb hosts exist out there in the real world and you'll just be setting up dynamic routing or static routes on your other routers to test connections.:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set! -
liven Member Posts: 918Man I can't believe I wasted hours yesterday figuring this out...
However one good thing will come from it. It is something that I will never forget!!!!
I had a boss teach me a lesson like this once. It was with linux and the blasted Selinux....encrypt the encryption, never mind my brain hurts.
