wireless card for a router
Okay so i have a spare box thats not doing much. I'm consdering making it a router, primarily because my current linksys is sucking. I usually have to powercycle the router a couple times a day. the network will randomly die . Anyway, know of a few os's but the biggest thing i'm worried about is wireless: can i use any old wireless NIC (assuming itrs compatible with linux) or do i need some special feature on it?
Fantastic. The project manager is inspired.

JDMurray Admin Posts: 13,081 AdminHave you tried using a third-party OS in your Linksys box? I use DD-WRT and it has a lot more options and better stability than the Linksys firmware that came with my v3 WRT54G. Have a look on www.linksysinfo.org for other firmware distros for Linksys boxes.
I hate to waste an entire PC using it only as a router. The power consumption of a PC vs. a $50 router/firewall box shows it's not good business sense. -
