Hi,
This question is about error code 301 on POST. My question is, why is COMP-TIA prejudiced for IBM error codes? I may be a technician who never works on an IBM machine.

    Depends on the networks you work with. Just because you feel it isn't significant, doesn't mean it IBM isn't found in the field.

    It doesn't hurt to be aware of the main vendor's and their 'typical' codes. IBM may not a huge player in the home market, but they are gaining with Lenovo. And....it was only 1 question.

    'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.... weird?

    LOL... funny thing is that CompTia claims to be vendor netural! icon_eek.gif

    Not sure if it is still covered on the NEW exams... icon_confused.gif there was or is a question about the process that a laser printer goes thru to print a document. Oh wait... that was an HP question icon_exclaim.gif

    But remember this CompTia claims to be vendor netural! :o

    Hi;
    I told my instructor that I had posted the question. He said that I should know something about IBM because their codes are legacy for some other brands. So anyway...
    Thanks

    301 Keyboard did not respond to a software reset correctly, or a stuck key failure was detected.

    maybe I'm just old school but some of these codes just got to be common knowledge. icon_cool.gif

    Don't mistake "Vendor Neutral" for "Vendor Neutered". Just because it is neutral doesn't mean it is completely void of some of the major players technologies and utilities. It simply means the focus is not on a specific vendor, it can include material on any/all major vendors. You'll find the same thing in the Linux+ and Net+, and to a somewhat lesser extent in the Sec+. If a specific vendor has something that is considered an industry standard, then it might be included on the exam.
    All things are possible, only believe.
