Printer sharing

Hi all,

passed to this topic.

The environment is a domain and a Print Server 2003.

I'm aware after some experience that an installation of a logical printer "side client" (XP), is specific for the User under which I performed the installation and not for all the Users of the machine.

This has the bad consequence that ther's the need to perform many installations how many they are the Users who make a log-on on the same client machine, otherwise no print service is available for them.

A bit surprised about that.

Ther's a way to make one logical installation on the client that provide the same service for all the Users who perform a log on on the same client machine?

I believe if you add a printer as a TCP/IP port then it will show up for all users. Of course then you aren't managing it from the server it is now managed from the PC (mainly in reference to drivers).

If the design of your users/groups allows, you can have the printers loaded via login script. For instance, if the HR department has 2 printers in their office/area, then you can create a script that maps those printers for anyone who is a member of the HR group.

printers are two I intended attached to a switch as stand alone printers.... The ports are of course standard TCP/IP ports...

oh, thanks for Your reply man, from that I understand that is not possible via normal way by S.O. to do what I asked.... Well I never tried myself in the scripting practice for Windows, but seems intriguing as well...
