I have just taken over the SA role (pushed into it) and we have a print server with say 40 printers configured. My manager has asked me to look into setting up another printer for fault tolerence. Has anyone any ideas on this? as i have no expierience with print servers.

Scroll down to the bottom for printer pools: http://technet2.microsoft.com/windowsserver/en/library/094f06f5-350d-4730-a283-2d131ae6e9af1033.mspx?mfr=true
Printer pools will actually have both printers active at the same time. Therefore, the other one will print if the first is in use. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you want, but it will provide fault tolerance if something happens to one or the other. -
billybob01 Member Posts: 504Sorry guys my stupid fault i meant to say Print Servers. We have one Server with about 40 printers configured on it, also we run a print script so when users log on the printers are mapped to them depending on where in the building they are located. I need to look into setting up another Print Server incase the other falls over.
