Just getting started

After 28+ years of programming, I seem to be falling behind knowledge wise. In fact, it seems that the habits that I've accumulated over the years is more of a handicap when it comes to OS troubleshooting and network issues. Never took a computer class or been tested - self taught going back to learning 6502 machine code on a KIM-1.

So, I've decide to embark on certification. For now, I'm studying the MS PressTraining Kit for 70-271. After I get a bit deeper, I may opt for some additional materials.

Sounds like you're getting a good start on learning OS technologies. Don't be afraid to ask questions, I'm sure there'll be plenty coming your way regarding coding. Good luck on your MCDST path, and let us know how you're progressing. If your interests take you to other platforms or into systems and networking, I'm sure the members of this forum can help you with that, too.

Oh, and of course, welcome to TechExams.net :D
