Hello all!
Long time no postee...quick question for those sys admins out there, or to anyone else who knows.
I searched online and found a couple of sites, including this one:
http://www.ezlan.net/monitor.html
It mentions a number of ways to throttle user bandwidth, and the first one talks about doing it with a switch. I have heard of this before, but how is this done exactly? Does anyone have any experience with doing this? Seems doable.
If you could, please describe how this is done, and, if possible, an actual example (does not have to be with a cisco device) with command syntax.
I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks
J

A common type of network bridge, in which the host stations are unaware of their existence in the network.

But even within Cisco Switches, the QoS capabilities varies by Switch family -- the newer and more expensive the switch, the more QoS options you get. The Cisco 2960 Layer 2 switch can still hang with the big switches.
On a Router you may Police or Shape.
You can poke around those doc for more ideas and options.:mike: Cisco Certifications -- Collect the Entire Set! -
