Linear vs Adaptive

I just had a quick question, what is the difference between a Linear test and an Adaptive one. I was reading the new objectives and saw that the new tests are linear and was curious as to what, if any, additional chanllenges this will entail.

A linear test has a set of questions that doesnt' change.
An adaptive test will hammer you with stuff you don't know until you get it right.
IE: On a CCNA exam, if you're not so good with ISDN, it'll give you a dozen BRI questions.
If you know your stuff you'll be fine.

The 2003 test will feature approx. 80 questions and you will have 90 minutes to take the test. It is scored on a 100-900 scale and passing for the core is 515, passing on the OS is 505. The old adaptive test was that they asked questions until they thought you knew the material and that was it. Hope this helps.

No, not really. Comptia won't release the official scoring method. Some questions have more value than others, and some questions don't count for scoring.

I think all questions definetly have a score. But yes, questions have different values and different scores.
