assembly call me crazy

Has anyone had success with HLA

I got it working on one dell laptop but it will not work on another almost identical dell laptop.

I know I know assembly probably makes most folks stomachs turn.

Does it crash, just not load, or what?

Are there any differences in the OS, such as service packs?

Any differences in the users you're running as? (i.e. administrator vs. standard user)

How do you like HLA? I've been wanting to spend some time playing around with that, but I'm going to wrap up my MCSE, CCNA, and another semester of school first.

Practially no different in machines users and patch levels.

The only difference is one is a latitude and one is an inspiron.

    Everything else is practially identical.

Seems like HLA is complining and building a .link file but not creating an exe...

No errors and not crashing. Just not creating the EXE

On the working machine HLA seems to be great!!! Feels like I am back in school studying C, so let the good times roll!

    Crazy crazy...

Just installed HJLA on linux (ubuntu vmware) and it worked right out of the box... Well I had to tweak the environment a little bit but other than that we were all good to go...

I wish I was a better windows admin so I could figure out what is going wrong on the windows machine. But with no error messages (even with the highest level of verbos) it is hard to trouble shoot.

Especially when the same exact steps on a very similar machine work...

    Oh well!!!

Check the event logs. Maybe there will be an application or security entry.

Good idea but nada. HLA is just not creating the .exe from the .link file. Makes me think the linker is not the correct version. However I have tried and tried to figure out why this is happening I am tired of messing with it. Especially since I have gotten it to work on a linux, freebsd and another windows box. I will come back to trouble shooting the other machine in the future.

I was hoping someone else would have had a similar issue, but oh well.

    Thanks dynamik for the suggestions.
