Hello all,
I just recently stumbled across this website and it is filled with great information. I have been working up the will power to start studying for my MCSE and even gone as far as taking a few training classes. My question is honestly how difficult is the 70-270 test ? I have been working with XP professional since day 1 and been in the IT field for quite some time now. Is this a test that requires very little studying aka is it alot of common sense questions that any IT guy should know ? Any insight on this would be great.
Thanks,
Zaits

There's a lot on there that even people who consider themselves to be "power users" simply have no experience with. I'm primarily referring to mass deployment, but there are several other topics as well. It's a pretty straight-forward exam, and you shouldn't have any problems if you study for it. You may have a different opinion based on your experience, but that's how it was for me and many others. I'd just pick up the MS Press book and start working your way through that. The MCSE isn't a big deal if you work at a comfortable pace and take it one exam at a time. I think now would be a great time for you to get started

Slowhand Mod Posts: 5,161 ModA lot of stuff on the 70-270 is considered "basic", in comparison to the rest of the MCSE track. Some things are common sense, but be prepared for a lot of "huh?!?" moments. Microsoft likes to make sure you think like their marketing department, so a lot of things will be obscure and/or very skewed towards their way of doing things. Even 70-270 is filled with "everything you never knew that you didn't know about XP" kind of material. A lot of people get "vendor-shock" when going from having done CompTIA exams, or no exams at all, to doing Microsoft (or any other vendor, like Cisco or Red Hat) exams. Pick up a copy of the MS Press book, if you get the chance.
When answering questions on the exam, just remember: there's the wrong way, the right way, and One Microsoft Way.
