I was looking for a part time oppurtunity so to go back to school full time next semester, and found a job which i applied for, i went in for an interview last week and got an offer extended later that day. Its a IT Support Specialist position, part time (25 hours/week) pay is not bad either, 18/hr, thats better than what i was making at my last job working full time as help desk tier 1. Anyways, i'm not really concerend about the money, I just wanted a job where i could continue to build experience, while i continue to knock off those credits in college! Its going to pretty much a helpdesk and desktop support role, eg. day to day help desk, configuring/setting up new laptops, etc.. They are a growing company as well, like 10 new employees each day. They only had one other guy before they hired me, he's going to be my manager, he's got an MCSE. They said this position has potential to turn into full time in the future as the company continues to grow, so i'm hoping i can stick with this one company and grow with them hopefully while finishing my MCSA, and pherhaps in the future being a Sys Admin for them, who knows.

Anyways, I start tuesday, wish me luck guys. I'll keep everyone posted on how my first week goes.

First of all congratulations on your new gig, everything will work out well with you, specially you have a positive attitude towards your new job.

As for myself I also have a new offer to work as a Windows Support Administrator for a company in Pasadena which have a 100+ users, my base salary is currently 51K and the job offers 68K base salary. They got Linux and Windows technology, I will only be working with one person who is the IT director very knowledgeable of IT systems, anyway to make it short, I have not accepted their offer, since I am undecided/confused if now is the right time to move, I've been with my other company for only 1 year and 4 months, which makes me look like a frogger.

I wanted to hear your feedback and comments on this, sorry to hijack your thread, I thought we are in the same boat, except I haven't accepted their offer.

jaebello if you have a better opptunity with more money i think you should take it. Did you like the place/manager when you went for the interview as well? if you did, i say take it. 1 year and 4 months in my opinion doesnt really make you a frogger. If you have a good reason for leaving like better oppurtunity etc, companies dont really look at it that much. I left my previous position at help desk only for about 6 months i worked there. Though i was able to get a good reference from the IT Manager there for the future, so if any future employer did have any questions as to why i left, maybe they were suspicious, i could just tell them to call my former IT Manager.

    Good luck you as well,

To make matters worst, I've been called for an interview for another company in Arcadia for a Systems Administrator II, which ballparks around 80K - 90K, now I'm wondering if I'm rather rushing my career advancement instead of just taking my time, since opportunity will open more as soon I'm done with my MCSE.

Money is not the deciding factor for me well a little icon_lol.gif , but also cause of the fact that the company in Arcadia have SAN/SQL/Exchange/AD/VMWare/Linux OS/Sharepoint. Sounds to be a great place to gain more technical experience and to have hands on with it, the company advised me that I will start with Windows Server 2003 Administration, then get trained/delegated for the maintenance/administration of the rest of the technologies mentioned above, if I get the job.

My interview is next week Friday...
