How is metropolitan wireless access points are setup and maintained, e.g. at cafes, airports, etc?
Overall, how is the wireless industry; is the market saturated? Is the industry flourishing?

Hot spots are usually managed by hotspot companies. Individuals can get into the hotspot market through companies like Sputnik which provide billing and back-end management and many others.
The wireless industry is booming depending on the market. Cellular 3g and more advanced technologies, pre-WiMAX technologies (not quite done yet!!!!!), 802.11 networks, mesh, and proprietary technologies......
