ok guys, just a quick question on defaults snmp...
if no snmp community string is set do the defaults apply ?
ie public ro and private rw ??
or do I need to apply these ?
does it vary on different models ??

silentc1015 Member Posts: 128It varies depending on the software you're using. In the open source software Net-SNMP, it will use the defaults of public and private for ro and rw.

Older version would automatically create the RO and RW stings but to be morre security minded Cisco removed these. If you want them to be ther you will need to add them to the router/switch. I would recommend using something other than public and private.The only easy day was yesterday!
