price difference in cert test

So I just came back to Germany for a second tour here courtesy of the US Army. I'm looking at Prometric's site for certification exam prices and the difference is quite appalling. For ex, to take the A+ essentials, it costs $167 in the US vs 177EU (almost $283 at today's exchange rate). Why is there such a cost difference?
I'll have to check with the education center here and find out if they provide some discount vouchers or proctor the tests themselves.

I don't believe the ed center provides vouchers (unless it has changed recently), but you can be reimbursed if you pass the exam. No reimbursement for failures.....An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made. -

because we seemed to get ripped off left right and centre in europe, especially in the UK!
