I have a server that reads only half of the files that are burnt to a cd-rom and beyond a certain point the remaining files on the cd rom are not recognized--can anyone point me in the right direction

Could be it cannot read cheap media.
    Could be a cheap drive
Could be a firmware upgrade is needed
Could be time to replace the drive

How much time do you want to invest in this verse what is your budget to replace the drive or even add an external drive?

Are you certain the media reads in other drives? If it does, you can also share the optical drive from another server, or even a workstation to read files for your server.

Personally, I'd look to replace the drive with a different brand/era.

So what is the drive brand and server model out of curiosity? Have you check the MFG site for others reporting similar problems with their optical drives on that server?

(also, this isn't really a NET+ question, so I've moved it).

    'i' before 'e' except after 'c'.... weird?
