I come across this question sometimes in the Boson sim questions, which starts out like "Two new switches are removed from their cardboard boxes..."
Sometimes the switches seem to be defaulting as dynamic auto and sometimes they are dynamic desirable. Is this different for different level routers? Access/Distribution level? or am I just mistaken?

So is it safe to assume that the switches use dynamic auto as their default switchport mode?, unless its a 3550.Buying hardware for a home lab is addicting-- (Need.. more.. toys...) **(need.. more.. money)
