My company previously had hired a "professional" photographer to take pictures of our building for the virtual tour page of our website. We were not very satisfied, we feel as if she was trying too hard to be artistic and not really capturing the important aspects of our industry. Instead, she was taking pictures of quarantine signs, empty bottles, our logo on a glass door, etc etc. So we have decided to buy a camera that could take pictures of an equivalent quality ourselves.
Here's an example of her wonderful photography:

(Couldn't upload it anywhere else, it would get downsized if I did.)
Anyways, I went surfing around my favorite online electronic store and I found a camera that could take pictures at the same resolution. I don't know much about photography so maybe you guys can help me out. This is the one I found:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830120049
It says it can take pictures of the same resolution but will the quality be matched?
Btw, sorry if this isn't directly related to computers but it is related to our website. :P

A lot of it comes down to the quality of the sensor, quality of the lens, etc. Depending on the type of photography you'll be doing, you'll want a good lense. If you're just standing "normal" photo's, the stock lense should do. Honestly, if you just need some standard photo's for the website, you may look into something a bit cheaper, like the Rebel XTi, or even the standard Rebel. Although the 30D is a $1,000+ camera, it might as well be a $200 camera if you don't know how to use the advanced features (honestly). A lot of the photo's taken will look no different than a cheaper camera on the Auto setting.
I highly recommend the Canon line, but again, unless you really want to delve into the advanced features, and make it a hobby, I would look into something a bit cheaper..it would be a waste of the features to get that camera and use it as a point and shoot.
The bright side, is the Canon line (EOS Rebel XTi +) have a ton of lenses/accessories you can buy for them. -

Talic Member Posts: 423I agree with Mrock, just go with a P&S camera unless you're going to make it a hobby. I also agree with a Canon line of P&S cameras. A good one that I just bought a week ago is the A570IS.

Its good in a way that it has image stabilization so a tri-pod isn't necessary. Shaky hands + no image stabilization / tri-pod = blurry images.
A good site to read up on digital cameras is http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/ -

I have a canon 400D <rebel XTI in America>

If you need clear pictures of equipment you will need excellent light, if you do not have that you will need to buy an external flash "the built in flash has a short range", and a good external flash is not cheap.
plus.
you will need at least a week to get to know how to use some of the features correctly.
