OSPF: LSU / LSA
Hi,
Is a link state update and a link state advertisment one and the same thing?
i.e 1) a router notice a change to a link does it send an LSU or a TYPE 1 LSA? Are these the same things?
2) Every 30 minutes the router sends an LSU, is this also a TYPE 1 LSA?

An LSU carries one or more LSA inside it. So the Link State Update is like a carrier of LSAs.An expert is a man who has made all the mistakes which can be made. -

picture an LSU as an envelope and LSAs are inside the envelope type 1-5 & 7. Also they all age out every 30 min to keep an up to date topology of the networkStudying for CCIE and drinking Home Brew
