boot problem

I have a weird problem with a pc. It was presented to me as not booting. I tried everything, assumed it was broken, took it into another room and it worked fine. I then took it back to where it was originally and it worked fine. My boss said it had happened before...any ideas as to what the problem may have been?

Must have been a lose screw shorting the motherboard and while you moved it around, it must have lodged out of place (or more so 'into' place). But who reallys knows ... even I've got a screw or two lose, yet I'm functioning just fine =)

I have come across similar problems with pc's and printer...disconnected power cable, reseated and booted ok.

Have worked out its something to do with static etc....

I felt an idiot as id called out our hardware support people, only for them to reseat the power cable...

Thats something they dont teach you in the MCSE exams !
