I use a PIX 501 at home and it is fine for home use. I think WAN connection is only 10mb, so if you have the ultimate cable ISP, you may want to go a different route so you don't bottleneck at your PIX.

The Cisco 350 AP is about the cheapest one, $20-50 on ebay. It's 802.11b, but almost all the affordable ones are. The 1200 models are the next step up.

    Geez,
I never felt like a "techie" until all my home stuff was Cisco. I have a Pix 506, an Aironet 350ap and I use a 2950 switch.
Talk about overkill, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
    But back to your question:
PIX501 is fine for most home users, as is the 506, but the outside interface for these is only going to be 10mbps.
The 506e has a 10/100 outside interface, but it costs about 50% more on eBay. Don't even think about anything higher.

I use an Aironet 350ap for my home wireless, but it's limited to WEP and 802.11b. SUPER stable, very fast (for "b", but my home internet is only 4mbps anyways).
The 1230 can do WPA, but it's 3x more expensive.
Getting an Aironet that does 802.11g and WPA can be prohibitively expensive.

    Hope this helps,

:) I want all cisco stuff too. My ISP provides 10.0 Mbps so I'll be ok with the cheaper devices I can get from ebay. Thanks guys.

The Last time I was in Wilmington, NC was 2002. Has it changed much? That was my get away spot on the weekends. I was a devildoc at Lejeune. icon_twisted.gif

    hmmm, 2002.
Yeah Wilmington cjanges all the time.
Military Cutoff is now a shopping destination,
Downtown is being revitalized, PPE has an office building on the water with 1000+ employees,
They put the bypass in so you can go right around Wilmington to get south.
Normal stuff. Changes all the time.

As for eBay, give yourself a little time and be patient.
Shop around to get a feel for what stuff SHOULD cost. It varies from week to week.
I've bought the same item for $135 and then found it on BuyNow for $100.
I've bought the same item for $125 and $35 in different weeks.
Be careful and you can get Cisco stuff cheap.
Let me know if I can help.

I've trained some Marines for A+. Top-notch crowd.
Again, let me know if I can help.
