...six weeks ago. This slipped under my radar, but I thought I'd post it for anyone else who missed it. SUN's been on a roll with open source lately. First MySQL for $1B, and now this. I wonder what's next.

That's an Infiniband switch. Different from a LAN switch.

I had a guy in a class rant and rave about Infiniband switches, but I never paid any attention to him since he said he was a current CCIE in Design well before the CCDE and when asked said he could not produce a CCIE number along with giving me the deer in the headlights look when I started talking about any CCNP stuff.

ooo. Sometimes I see words like 'infiniband' and just assume that it's some pretty marketing word they made up.

Nah its big in the HPC cluster world. Also I've seen a large blade implementation make use of it.
