Lan Monitoring
Hello
My boss asked me to look into a solution for traffic monitoring inside the Lan. We are looking to monitor traffic to each server on the network and application. We do have an application that monitors traffic and controls access to the internet.
Our network is composed of 4500 switches in the core and a mix of 3550 and 2950 switches in the access layer.
Could someone recommend something that would help monitor our network.
Thank you

larkspur Member Posts: 235well since your core is prob set up for layer 3 (routing) you could either use netflow there which gives good detailed info on source, dest, ports, etc or you could monitor snmp traps which won't provide as much detail but show you peaks and valleys.
sometihng is better than nothing......
neflow collectors - prtg, manage engine, scruntizer.
snmp monitors - prtg, whats up,manage engine, track-it,
hthjust trying to keep it all in perspective! -
